eMTB//Discover Naxos' Southwest Coastline

What you'll do

Whether you’re a casual cyclist or just looking for a relaxing way to explore Naxos, this route offers a perfect mix of gentle exercise and awe-inspiring scenery. A tranquil and scenic ride, it will leave you with cherished memories of the island’s diverse and beautiful southwestern coastline.

Begin your journey on a picturesque, flat bike route heading south towards the breathtaking Alyko Beach. This route is designed to give you an unforgettable first impression of Naxos’ stunning southwest coast, allowing you to take in some of the island's most beautiful landscapes in one easy, enjoyable ride.

As you cycle along the coastal road, alternating between paved paths and dirt tracks, you’ll pass by the island’s renowned kitesurfing spot, Mikri Vigla, where you'll witness vibrant kites dancing in the sky above the clear blue waters. This beach is famous among wind and water sports enthusiasts, offering a spectacular backdrop of colorful kites against the deep Aegean Sea. Take a moment to pause and admire the energy of the spot—it’s one of Naxos’ hidden gems.

Continuing on, the ride leads you toward Alyko, a natural protected area known for its pristine beaches and unique cedar forest. This peaceful haven, untouched by development, is a rare treasure on the island. As you pedal through, you’ll be surrounded by the gentle scent of the ancient cedars, making for a serene and refreshing atmosphere. The area is a true escape into nature, with stunning views of the crystal-clear waters and sand dunes that shape the coastline. You guessed right, it's swimming time!

The entire route is a gentle 25 km-30km, with minimal elevation gain, making it perfect for cyclists of all fitness levels, from beginners to more experienced riders. The smooth path ensures a leisurely pace, allowing you to fully absorb the natural beauty around you.

*On the way back, as you approach your starting point, those feeling more adventurous can take a detour to a nearby watersports station, where you’ll have the exciting option to try tubing. Glide over the waves, propelled by speed and adrenaline, for an exhilarating end to your scenic bike ride.
